The Dark Knight Broken Records

Lots of talk going on about all these records The Dark Knight is breaking, well lets round them all up right here shall we? Will it be enough to shatter Spiderman and break the wall down to victory past the Titanic?

The Dark Knight opened this past weekend in both Imax and Theaters. The final tally for total weekend sales is 158.4 million dollars, easily breaking the 151 million mark of Spiderman 3. The record opening weekend was actually higher than the studios estimates.

The movie also broke the opening day record with 67.8 million dollars. On opening night the movie made a tally of 18.5 million for midnight shows alone, which does not include the 3 am showings, which als beats the Star Wars midnight record.

The movie opened in 4,366 theaters, another record, and coninues to expand for demand. WB expects the movie to gross over 220 million dollars in its first week, more than Batman Begins made all together, and is already nearing the 200 million dollar mark. Spiderman holds the record for overall sales. Box office has also stated its highest grossing weekend overall as well.

As of today The Dark Night has added well over 30 million more dollars to its total and is becoming the fastest movie to reach 200 million. Having been out for only 4 days, the tally shows the movie at the 182 million dollar mark. Spiderman holds the record for reaching 200 million in 8 days.

With The Dark Knight taking almost ever box office record known in only 4 days here is a cheers that it finally knocks off Titanic from best in box office. That way we no longer have to hear movies not beating it. Then people can remember the comic book movie generation in a good way!
