Remember the day 12/3/08!

Oh yeah! I don't know about you all but I am excited out of my mind for the release of Starcaft 2! According to Gamestop the release date is December 12th 2008 just in time for Christmas.
A little background about the first game. Release in September 3, 1997, Starcraft centered around three races, Terran (or humans), Protoss (advanced humanoid aliens), and the Zerg (reptilian-insect like species). The game takes you through the battles and wars of the races in a remote region of the galaxy. They all have their own leaders. When you select the campaign you select one of the races to play. All of the races’ stories intertwine with each other and make for an amazing game. If you plan on playing Starcraft II for the storyline, you might want to pick up Starcraft and Starcraft:Brood War to understand what is going on.
Starcraft II has been on original gameplayers’ minds since Starcraft came out and nearly 10 years later our dreams are fulfilled! Blizzard announced the game last year at E3 with an amazing trailer and since then I, as well as many others have been constantly checking the official site (http://www.starcraft2.com/) for more and more updates.
So now, what has been changed and what has been added? Well first of all the units. NO,no they did not change all of the units and some of our favorites are back to ravage once again. Here they are by race:
Terran:
So these are the familiar units that were brought back. The Marine, Ghost, Battlecruiser, and Seige Tank has been announced as making a return. But the new units are outstanding! First we have the Reapers:
”Reapers are the most hardened Terran criminals, taken from the most dangerous and violent prisons. Potential marines who prove too intractable even after resocialization are instead sent to the “Icehouse” in the Torus system, where reapers are trained.” says the official site. They attack with two Gauss pistols, as well has D-8 charges to blow the crap out of anything! Although they are lightly armored, they have jet packs which allow them to jump from cliffs or across obstacles.
Another unit is the Viking. This seems to be a combo of the Wraith and Goliath from Starcraft I. IT is able to change from air unit to ground unit in a few seconds.
The AH/g-24 Banshee was a new design of other aircrafts. Instead of attacking air units it ONLY attacks ground units. IT is mounted with two turbo fans as well as cloaking, yes i said CLOAKING!!!!
The most amazing looking unit has to be the Thor. It is a HUGE machine resembling a seige tank on roids! What is awesome is that it is built by an SCV which tells you its like a building. IT had cannons mounted on its back and is called the “Ultimate Heavy-assault Mech.”
Lastly for the Terran's is the TF-620 Nomad. It is a light-manufacturing center and observation post in one. It can construct an auto-turret as well as other permanent defensive buildings.
Protoss:
Ok so the Protoss now have a bunch of new units, so bear with me please. The returning units are the Zealots (”My life for Auir!” lol), the Carrier, the Dark Templar, and Observer.
One new unit is the Immortal. Since the dragoon shrine dedicated to creating the Dragoons was infested by Zerg, they are now no more. The remaining Dragoon are now these Immortals with twin phase disruptors. They are a critical fire support to the Protoss and can use their shields in battle.
Created by the Dark Templar with the inspiration of the Dragoons, they began to create the Stalker machines which is a fusion of the Dark Templars shadow-essence to the machine. One ability is to blink which allows them to jump a short distance in the blink of an eye.
The Pheonix are a replacement of the Scouts of old. They are mounted with twin ion blasters and can attack both ground and air targets. “Phoenix pilots can unleash a short-lived storm of destruction by overloading its warp field through the ship’s ion blasters. The area-effect discharge is devastating and can destroy a large number of enemies at once, but it comes at a price: in the aftermath the phoenix is left temporarily powerless and crippled.” says the official site.
The Colossus walks on four long legs which allow it to walk up and down cliffs. IT carries two thermal lances and they switch instantaneously from target to target. It was created as a war machine, which is odd because Protoss machines are ussually for gathering.
The twilight archon are made by merging two templars together allowing them to form this beast of a unit. They use their psionic abilities to shoot fire and lightning from their hands! Muhahaha!
Last but not least for the Protoss is the Mothership. “At the heart of each mothership is a huge khaydarin crystal infused with an incredible amount of psionic energy. By tapping into this energy, a mothership can warp or crack the very fabric of space and time itself. The devastating power of a mothership can wipe out squadrons of enemy ships in the blink of an eye or lay waste to entire planets.”
Zerg:
Okay Blizzard has only announced three units for the Zerg on their site so far, two of which are returning units. The Hydralisk and Mutalisk have been announced and I'm pretty sure they will bring out the zerglings soon enough, because who doesnt like to zerg rush
The new unit is the Baneling, which is a mutation of the Zergling strain. They are created with chemicals in their abdomens that are VERY volatile. They can roll up on their enemies and POW! explode all over them like a suicider. The thing that makes this great is that they can burrow, so you can pop one out of the ground roll up on a guy and blow the be-jeebies out of him!
Well that is about it for Starcraft II at the moment. Check the site out for more information on the game and new updates. http://www.starcraft2.com/ i am eager for this release and want December to come around SO badly.
Always and Never
